  • The Humanities and Communications Department at Chemeketa Community College would like to invite PSU graduates to consider part-time French and Japanese teaching opportunities for the winter term. Minimum qualifications for applicants are as follows:

    *1) Relevant education and language proficiency, as evidenced by one
    of the following: *

    a) MA in French / Japanese
    b) MA in related field with 24 graduate credit hours in French / Japanese
    c) MA in any field plus a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a
    foreign university in which instruction in French / Japanese
    d) MA in any field plus official OPI rating of Superior in French /
    Japanese

    - AND -

    *2) Pedagogical expertise, as evidenced by at least one of the
    following: *
    a) education courses, including foreign language teaching methodology
    b) teacher certification in foreign language instruction
    c) significant experience teaching foreign language

  • Wanted: Bilingual Russian/English speaking research assistant to work as part of a quality assurance team on a Columbia University research study on health behaviors in Israel. Fluency in written and spoken Russian and English required, as well as at least one year of college education. Additional familiarity with Hebrew a major plus. Job starts as soon as possible. Must be able to receive pay legally in the United States.

    Job description: Assist research team with quality assurance of interviews conducted in Russian by listening to recorded interviews, monitoring the accuracy of the data and providing structured written feedback on the interviewer's performance. Worksite is at Columbia University Medical Center in Washington Heights (near 168th Street subway stops). Minimum 20 hours/week. Duration of the job: several months. Pay: $15.64/hour, higher for someone with knowledge of Hebrew as well as Russian.

  • Second Grade- Currently there is an opening for a 2nd grade Russian speaking teacher at PPS Kelly Elementary School to teach in the Russian immersion program.  This is our second year of our fast growing program and we are opening a brand new 2nd grade class.   The applicant will be responsible for teaching 2nd grade curriculum in Russian and English.  The applicant must be fluent in both languages, have necessary skills to work with elementary school age children, work collaboratively with peers, and have an Oregon teaching license and/or have a teaching degree from the former Soviet Union.
