GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :

Applications and related information below are for the following Masters Programs in Foreign Languages in Literature:
M.A.: in French, German, Spanish

M.A.: in Foreign Literature and Language
M.AT.: in Teaching French, German or Spanish

M.AT.: Master of Arts in Teaching with Initial License


The admission process will be delayed if you submit incomplete packets. Admission to graduate study is granted on the basis of evidence of suitable preparation and the probability of success in the intended field of study.

If you do not register for the term to which you are admitted, your admission will be automatically cancelled unless you notify the office of admission and the FLL Department of your intent to change the date of enrollment.

Notification must be given prior to the term for which you are admitted. Failure to supply complete and accurate information will subject you to the University's policies governing academic dishonesty.

 

APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT TWO DIFFERENT APPLICATION PACKETS TO BE ADMITTED:


(PACKET 1) Return a complete packet to the Office of Admissions containing:
  1. The PSU Application for Graduate Admission.
  2. $50.00 non-refundable application fee (do not send cash). The fee is good for one year.
  3. One official transcript, in its unopened envelope, from each post-secondary institution attended.

International students must apply to the Department of Admissions through the Office of International Student Admissions. The procedures are explained on the International Application Checklist .

(PACKET 2) Return the following to the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
  1. One transcript for each post-secondary institution attended (other than PSU).
  2. Two letters of recommendation from individuals with whom you have studied or who know your work.
  3. Written statement detailing your background, and indicating goal and reasons for selecting this field as a future profession.
  4. A writing sample from your most recent coursework in the language(s) for which you are applying.

As a PSU student, you are responsible for being familiar and complying with all rules and regulations governing graduate study as set forth in the catalog.

Please note not all FLL Graduate programs accept students for every term, please contact the FLL Department for details.


 


APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP IN TEACHING

Graduate Assistanships provide professional research and teaching experience as well as financial support for qualified students regularly admitted to PSU graduate programs.

If you are not admitted to an MA or MAT progam in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, you will also need to submit 2 letters of evaluation, using the Letter of Evaluation for Graduate Assistanship form.
