Dr. Sedighi is the
first full-time Persian faculty member at PSU in twenty years. She holds
a Ph.D, and a Master’s degree in Persian Linguistics from the University
of Ottawa, and a Bachelor’s degree in Persian-English translation
from Azad University in Tehran. She is the recipient of the award for
the Best Student Paper Contest at the Canadian Linguistic Association
Conference (CLA) in 2004. She has delivered papers on Persian linguistics
at several International conferences and has written articles on Persian
Syntax. Her felids of Interest are Persian Language (Syntax and Morphology),
Literature, and Culture. She is a member of American Association for teachers
of Persian (AATP). At PSU, she is developing a two year proficiency oriented
Persian Program as well as conducting research on Persian linguistics.
She is also the coordinator for the Heritage Persian Initiative and a
member of the Middle East Studies Center at PSU.
