Criteria:
Two partial scholarships granted by the Middle East Studies Center for the study of Middle Eastern languages. Current enrollment in Arabic, Persian, or Turkish language is required. Minimum GPA is 3.25. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Applications available year round.

Name: Noury and Lamia al-Khaledy Scholarship for Arabic

Criteria:
This renewable scholarship is open to all full-time PSU students of all majors who have formally studied Arabic for at least two years; had an outstanding performance in previous Arabic studies; have a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher; and a commitment to successfully complete third-year Arabic and spoken Arabic, or minor in Arabic at PSU. School performance and financial need are a major consideration.

Amount: $1,000 per scholarship

Criteria: The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures offers renewable scholarships of up to $1000 to students enrolling in and completing second- and third-year modern Hebrew sequences.  The award will be used to meet tuition costs and related educational expenses at Portland State University.  Preference will be given to students in the more advanced (300-level) sequence, and to students undertaking the Minor Degree in Judaic Studies.  Full-time PSU students and high school students may apply.  Academic performance and financial need are also major considerations.

The scholarship was established by Steven Rosenberg and Ellen Lippman to encourage academically talented university and high school students in their study of modern Hebrew.
